There are a lot of karaoke choices in town, and you don’t want to end up at one where karaoke night is just some sweaty guy singing over a Journey CD. Here are a few DVD hotspots and what you can expect to find.  Practice your favorite song to perfection while showering and try your hand at once of these bars. Or just get plastered and mumble through the lyrics to “The Night Chicago Died.” It will only seem embarrassing when your friends recount the gory details to you the next day.

Trophy's

When: 10 p.m.-1:30 a.m. every night

Trophy's hosts karaoke every night of the week. DJ Rick Ludwig offers song cards for regulars where they can keep track of their favorite tunes and quickly let him know what they want to sing.

Prizes and contests: $200 drawing every 10 weeks. The next one is at Scary-Oke, Oct. 31. Must be present to win.

Karaoke provider: Showtime Entertainment
