WHAT/WHO is the Jukebox Singer? The Jukebox Singer is Rick Ludwig, owner of Showtime Entertainment of Des Moines, IA. Rick has been entertaining professionally for over 26 years now. A Jukebox Singer performance is a show designed for the audience (crowd) to choose the songs that Rick will perform in a 1 to 3 hour session. It's personable, fun, interactive and entertaining. At each show, there are several copies of the Jukebox Singer Songlist spread throughout the venue, whereby patrons choose a song from the list that they desire Rick to perform and they can put their name on the request slip, so that Rick can send a song out to that customer and he will also make special dedications.
At a Jukebox Singer show, the format will vary from show to show, so no one show will ever be the same! That's what makes it fun. If the crowd like oldies, then they request oldies and Rick sings the requests. Same goes for all the other genres that Rick performs. It's usually a good variety of songs mixed together nicely. Also, later in the evening and with permission from the venue management, Rick will even let some people join him on some of their favorite songs that they have requested. Finally, even later in the night, the show can be opened up to anyone that wishes to sing from over 18,000 karaoke songs. This is all at the discretion of management. The Jukebox Singer show is always different and sure to be a show to remember, because Rick makes it personal with each audience. WHO is Rick Ludwig (aka Jukebox Singer)? Rick Ludwig is one of the Midwest's best kept secrets when it comes to variety style vocal performance and impersonations of the greatest singers since the 1950s until the present. In his Live Performance show (the Rick Ludwig Show), Rick sings a variety from over 300 different songs from over 50 different artists spanning over 60 years and in some of his shows he also impersonates many of these artists with costumes or hilarious props. Rick's incredible 4 octave range (from bass to falsetto) allows him to do almost any song made for a man (and them some). From the Oakridge Boys to Frankie Valli, Rick keeps his audiences on their toes as to what he will sing next. In the Jukebox Singer show, Rick can actually sing from over 300 different songs, spanning almost all genres of music, with the assistance of a visual monitor to help with the lyrics to songs he does not have memorized. Rick is continually adding new songs to his list. Rick has performed (sang) at over 3,500 shows from 1990-present, including wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, corporate parties, karaoke shows, singing telegrams, senior citizen centers, nightclubs, casino shows and even funerals. He began singing in public at a very young age of four in church, performing special numbers. The love for singing has always been in his blood! He is a natural when it comes to singing like the original artists and impersonating their famous moves! Rick has even been compared to the late, great Vegas entertainer/singer/impersonator Danny Gans, by some big fans of Danny's that saw his show several times. Rick performs the oldies, classic country, new country (including hits on the radio today), classic pop and rock & roll songs and even contemporary Christian and gospel songs.
